Special Guest Kyla Kirkpatrick – The Champagne Dame
Kyla Kirkpatrick, also known as The Champagne Dame is a champagne enthusiast, advocate and educator. She began her colourful career in the champagne industry over a decade ago, falling in love with the history of champagne after reading an article on why it is the wine of kings!
Kyla’s corporate life was put on permanent pause while she continued to explore every article, book and journal on champagne. Kyla wrote a letter to an author who had written one of her favourite books on champagne, to her surprise he wrote her back inviting her to the Champagne region of France to learn all about this magic wine in the vineyard. So Kyla sold her business and her house, broke up with her boyfriend, gave away her dog and bought a one way ticket to Paris – she never looked back.
Kyla has worked for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (presenting on behalf of Krug, Dom Perignon, Moët and Chandon, Ruinart and Veuve Clicquot), represented some of the biggest champagne brands in the world, has presented on the topic of champagne in numerous countries and for dozens of companies. She hosts champagne master classes nationally, conducts champagne tours to France and is considered an expert in her field of bubbles!
2016 Celebrity Chef Lineup
MKR Contestants Alex & Gareth – Queensland
Best mates Alex and Gareth love to cook. So much so, their culinary dream inspired them to enter Channel Seven’s My Kitchen Rules season 2016. The “Miner Diners” were formed. And Australia fell in love with them. A couple of laid-back, Aussie lads that have a passion for good, healthy, locally-produced food. Alex & Gareth have big plans. Their ultimate dream is to travel Australia to discover the country and cook everywhere along the way.
The pair, originally from Mackay, now living on the Sunshine Coast, discovered their passion for food after moving out and “fending for themselves” as young men – and eating the food they were served up while working in the mines. They also found that, as a side bonus, it “impresses the ladies”.
Alex & Gareth are healthy food and Australian, locally produced food advocates.
They can’t wait to meet everyone at the Capricorn Food & Wine Festival! Come see their cooking demonstrations Saturday and Sunday in the AEG Celebrity Theatre.

Glen’s love for creating tasty food in the kitchen started as a young child making biscuits and cakes at home. Looking for more of a challenge he started cooking meals for family taking an interest in French cuisine as well as growing fresh herbs to flavour his creations. During this time an understanding of companion planting and organic techniques developed growing healthy plants with optimum results.
Wanting to pursue his hobby as a career Glen did work experience in the kitchen at Michaels Riverside Restaurant during his school holidays where he was offered an apprenticeship which he completed at this venue. With over two decades of experience in some of Brisbane’s most iconic restaurants, the most recent being five years as Head Chef at Restaurant II, Glen is now enjoying his dream job where he gets to mix his two passions.
